The Davenport Cast Iron Rim Lock is truly a beautiful period piece. Both the external design and the internal locking mechanism have been based on a Victorian original. Faithfully reproduced in cast iron with brass detailing, each lock is hand finished and supplied with 2 solid brass ornate keys.
The cast iron is not lacquered, it is supplied with an initial protective coating of oil and would normally be left to age in the traditional manner. We recommend that Davenport Cast Iron Rim Lock is wiped from time-to-time with a lightly oiled cloth to keep it in great condition. Should little rust spots appear, gently remove with 00 grade fine wire wool and then apply a thin coating of oil with a rag or brush.
The Davenport Cast Iron Rim Lock operates with a single lever mechanism, so is suitable for internal doors only. It is a very simple locking mechanism and each of the 6 key profiles are hand finished to ensure that they work in the lock casting. If you wish to use it on an external door, you will also need to fit a suitable security lock. This could be a 5 Lever Mortice Deadlock or a high security night latch.

Supplied with matching fixings. Always make a small pilot drill hole and use a manual screw driver to avoid damaging screws and finish.
