This Aged Brass Doctors Knocker is based on a very traditional period design and has smooth, elegant lines. It is cast from high quality bronze, before being hand aged and will provide a lovely feature for many front doors and entrances. It is said that this type of door knocker was so named as it used to be used to identify a doctor's house in times gone by!
Aged Brass – this finish is intentionally tarnished using an accelerated ageing process that causes a dark patina to gather around the edges and recesses of the design. This rich colour offers a beautiful contrast against the repolished surface areas, offering an abundance of charm and character perfect for any period dwelling. If the finish becomes too dark over time you can restore these products to their former glory, simply polish using a dry cloth and some Brasso.
Note - An oily cloth can be used to wipe over the product from time to time to remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surface of your product, this will also aid protection against any environmental elements. For persistent marks the use of a good quality metal polish can be used. Oiling moving parts during installation and periodically afterwards will help to aid protection against exterior and environmental elements.
The Aged Brass Doctors Knocker is attached to a small fixing plate which makes this ideal for doors that have a narrow centre stile.
