An attractive and well-proportioned Ebonised Beehive Knob Set in a rich, dark finish. Finished off with an Aged Brass Ribbed Rose.
Ebony - crafted from high-quality rosewood timber with an ebonised finish, favoured for their rich, dark tones. When paired with Brass, this finish emulates a traditional aesthetic, but when coupled with Nickel or Chrome, a more contemporary feel is created.
Note - Best suited for internal use but can also be used externally if well maintained. Please note that we recommend regular waxing of your timber products with a good quality natural beeswax, this will help to prevent any discoloration or drying of the timber. Waxing also helps to provide a protective barrier against environmental elements. Regular oiling of all moving parts is beneficial to the longevity of your products. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation.
Aged Brass – this finish is intentionally tarnished using an accelerated ageing process that causes a dark patina to gather around the edges and recesses of the design. This rich colour offers a beautiful contrast against the repolished surface areas, offering an abundance of charm and character perfect for any period dwelling. If the finish becomes too dark over time you can restore these products to their former glory, simply polish using a dry cloth and some Brasso.
Note - An oily cloth can be used to wipe over the product from time to time to remove any harmful deposits that build up on the surface of your product, this will also aid protection against any environmental elements. Oiling moving parts during installation and periodically afterwards will help to aid protection against exterior and environmental elements.
These ebonised beehive door knobs are Unsprung and have loose roses so that they can be used with both mortice or rim locks and latches. They have an 8mm threaded spindle to enable fine adjustment for various door thicknesses and lock firmly with a Grub Screw, which must locate on the V in the shaft and not on the threaded part of the spindle.
For best results we recommend using a Heavy Duty / Heavy Sprung lock or latch, with at least a 100mm lock case to provide a minimum backset of 75mm. This is to make sure that the door knobs turn properly and return back to their start position. It also helps to make sure that you do not catch you hand on the door frame.
Supplied as a PAIR with matching fixings. Always make a small pilot drill hole and use a manual screw driver to avoid damaging screws and finish.
