This Gothic Thumblatch is a lovely example of period door furniture. Pointed at the top and bottom of the handle to mimic 'Gothic' architecture and style. This thumblatch is hot forged, not cast, which gives each piece real character and individuality. Available in a choice of finishes, Beeswax, Black or Pewter.

The thumblatch works as the thumb piece passes through the door and raises the latch bar off the keep when it is pressed down. The staple pin restricts the movement of the latch bar. We provide a Staple Pin and a Screw-on Staple for you to choose from, you only need the one so you may discard the other or perhaps find another use for it! The thumb bar allows for use on doors with a maximum thickness of 55mm.

The Black is a traditional satin Black finish, baked in a high-temperature oven giving it an attractive, durable and corrosion-resistent finish. The finish is low maintenance when used internally, if used externally it will require more. In all cases we do recommend that it is wiped with a lightly oiled cloth periodically. This will help to remove surface dirt and restore it back to its original condition.

The Beeswax is the most authentic finish for steel. When the highly skilled blacksmiths have finished forging the colours left in the steel range from blue to deep red ochre. To preserve these beautiful colours and texture they are finished with just pure beeswax. Because of this they are only suitable for internal use. We recommend that wiping the hinges with beeswax from time to time will help protect and maintain the product. Some surface rust may occur with time, this can be treated with 00 grade wire wool followed by a light coating of beeswax.

The Pewter finish is elegant and beautifully highlights the texture of the steel. It is equally suited to contemporary homes as well as period properties. The finish has excellent anti-corrosion properties but we do recommend that it is wiped with a lightly oiled cloth periodically. This will help to remove surface dirt and restore it back to its original condition.

Never use any form of metal cleaner or aerosol spray.

Sold as a set and supplied with fixings. The screws supplied are hand finished, so please take care when fixing. Always use a pilot drill.
