This is a longer version of the gothic thumblatch, and because it is longer it allows you to bring this beautiful period look to even very large doors. Our XL Gothic Thumblatch is also hot forged, not cast, which gives each piece real character and individuality. Pointed at the top and bottom of the handle to mimic 'Gothic' architecture and style.

The thumblatch works as the thumb piece passes through the door and raises the latch bar off the keep when it is pressed down. The staple pin restricts the movement of the latch bar. We provide a Staple Pin and a Screw-on Staple for you to choose from, you only need the one so you may discard the other or perhaps find another use for it! The extra long thumb bar allows for use on doors with a maximum thickness of 75mm.

The XL Gothic Thumblatch is only available in the Beeswax finish.

Beeswax – is the most authentic finish for steel. After forging, these products are dipped into hot beeswax which allows them to retain their original colours ranging from blue to deep ochre. All our Beeswax ironmongery offers a subtle matt richness and is a more natural, and far softer, alternative to a black powder coated finish. These products offer excellent internal protection when properly maintained. Regular oiling of all moving parts using is beneficial to the longevity of products. This process is also highly recommended during initial installation.

Note - Do not use chemicals or cleaning products as this may affect the finish. To ensure the finish on your beeswax product always remains at its best, we would advise re-coating your product with a good quality natural beeswax from time to time. This adds further protection to the metal and helps to prevent any rust or white blooms forming. Due to temperature changes or packaging, a beeswax product may occasionally show signs of a white bloom upon opening. This can be buffed with a soft cloth to remove.

We would recommend using our external beeswax in areas of your property with high moisture content, such as bathrooms or kitchens. Light surface rust may appear if using our standard beeswax in damp internal environments, but this can be removed with ease.

Sold as a set and supplied with fixings. The screws supplied are hand finished, so please take care when fixing. Always use a pilot drill.
